In order for the actions to be classified as bullying:



  • The mistreatment must be intentional.
  • The mistreatment must be hurtful (physical or psychological).
  • The mistreatment is threatening. The individual fears harms.  Fear their safety.
  • The mistreatment must occur more than once. However, some disagree with this. They say one very hurtful event is enough to label it bullying.
  • There must be a power imbalance.

Bystanders also play a role in bullying

 

85% of the times that bullying occurs, there is a peer present, witnessing the acts of aggression. If you witness any of these cases above, it is your duty to identify them, stop them and report them. Bystanders can help by:



  • Intervening and stopping the bullying while is occurs
  • Talking with the bully
  • Talking with the bullied peer
  • Reporting the case to school administration or a guardian

What Is Bullying?

If you are bullied do not give up, do not give in. Stand tall, be yourself, there is no point in being anybody else. Let every experience, every challenge make you stronger.

Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior that is:



  • Intentional
  • Hurtful (physical and psychological) 
  • Threatening
  • Persistent (repeated)
  • Shows an unbalance in power
